Uyeda this past January, the Crypto Task Force’s mission is to “draw clear regulatory lines, provide realistic paths to registration, craft sensible disclosure frameworks, and deploy enforcement resources judiciously” for the blockchain sector. Commissioner Hester Peirce serves as the task force’s leader, while Richard Gabbert, Senior Advisor to the Acting Chairman, and Taylor Asher, Senior Policy Advisor to the Acting Chairman, are the agency-wide effort’s Chief of Staff and Chief Policy Advisor. The creation of the task force stands in stark contrast to the regulating body’s prior regulation-by-enforcement approach to the digital asset industry under previous Chair Gary Gensler.
