The emails claim that recipients must review their account details to ensure seamless operations on the platform. Accompanying this, Schwartz shared an image of one such email, highlighting its deceptive design. Adding to the urgency, some community members confirmed receiving similar emails. One investor recounted receiving the email and a follow-up call from a Canadian phone number impersonating Coinbase support. Thankfully, the user remained vigilant and avoided falling victim to the scam. In a similar incident in 2024, the Ripple CTO revealed that scammers had tried to contact him by text and email. As mentioned above, the bad actors posed as the ‘Asset Shielding Department’ in the exchange. The phishing attempt aimed to deceive Schwartz into sharing his personal information, presumably to gain unauthorized access to his assets or sensitive data.
