Coinbase Just Made an Announcement: Bitcoin Price May Now Behave Differently on Weekends – Here’s What to Know

Coinbase has announced that it plans to launch 24/7 Bitcoin and Ethereum futures trading via its CFTC-regulated Coinbase Derivatives Exchange in the coming weeks. The move aims to fill the gap between US-regulated trading platforms and offshore exchanges that currently provide 24/7 access to crypto futures markets. “Today, U.S. futures markets operate within fixed trading hours that are out of sync with the 24/7 nature of crypto,” Coinbase said, adding, “This forces traders to sit on the sidelines during significant market moves, limiting their ability to react in real time.” Related News: Only 12 of the 100 Biggest Cryptocurrencies Made a Profit in the Last Three Months - Here's the List Unlike CME’s crypto futures, which have a one-hour break daily and no trading from Friday to Sunday, Coinbase’s new offering will provide uninterrupted access to Bitcoin and Ethereum futures — a significant development as it will be the first U.S.-regulated exchange to offer such a feature.
