Ai16z’s Eliza v2 beta has officially been released, but AI16Z remains in the bottom-out phase with no signs of recovery just yet. In his recent post on X , the founder of ai16z ( AI16Z ) Shaw announced that ElizaOS v2 1.0.0 beta has been released, warning users that “it’s still a beta” and that “job’s not done.” Beta has been published Be forewarned– it's a beta Job's not done pic.twitter.com/4QUvJGZ0km — Shaw (wartime arc) (@shawmakesmagic) March 18, 2025 On Jan. 16, Shaw discussed progress on Eliza version 2, emphasizing its shift from a solo effort to a more collaborative development involving both internal and external teams. At that time, the new version was in a private repository, with plans for community testing before being moved to the main repository in about two months. However, the move to the main repository is yet to be announced. It will likely be after beta testing is complete. Eliza version 2 aims to address one of the key challenges faced by AI agents, which is setting and following long-term objectives without constant human input . To tackle this, ai16z has integrated Hierarchical Task Networks into Eliza version 2. HTNs will allow AI agents built on Eliza to break down complex tasks into smaller, structured steps and autonomously execute multi-step processes. In other words, agents built on ElizaOS will be able to not just react but plan and act proactively.
