Sun stated that he plans to distribute the bananas worldwide. “As the owner of a fruit stand in Manhattan’s Upper East Side, Mr. Shah Alam inadvertently became a crucial contributor to a groundbreaking piece of art. As previously reported by crypto.news on Nov. 21, Justin Sun purchased the banana for a whopping $6.2 million at a Sotheby’s auction after six minutes of bidding. The banana is part of Maurizio Cattelan’s artwork titled the “Comedian” which features a banana duct-taped to a wall. After the purchase, Sotheby’s bestowed Sun with a certificate of authenticity that gives him the right to showcase the piece as an official artwork. The auction house also gave him a “starter-kit” consisting of a banana, a roll of duct tape and a detailed instruction manual on how the piece should be presented. At the time, the Tron founder expressed his desire to eat the $6.2 million dollar banana “as part of this unique artistic experience, honoring its place in both art history and popular culture.” Sun has become the third person to have reportedly eaten Cattelan’s banana, aside from a hungry South Korean student and New York-based performance artist David Datuna.
