The move is part of the company’s “21/21 Plan,” which aims to raise $21 billion in equity and $21 billion in fixed-income instruments over the next three years. The firm, which holds around $44 billion worth of Bitcoin, has repeatedly demonstrated its commitment to expanding its crypto reserves. Co-founder Michael Saylor teased the announcement late Sunday by sharing an image of the popular “SaylorTracker” chart, which is known for signaling recent Bitcoin purchases. MicroStrategy’s Bitcoin buying sprees often create market volatility, with prices rising in anticipation of the purchase but falling slightly following official announcements. Metaplanet Joins Bitcoin Buying Craze Japanese investment firm Metaplanet, often referred to as “Japan’s MicroStrategy,” plans to purchase 10,000 BTC (equivalent to around $1 billion at current prices) throughout 2025. Metaplanet CEO Simon Gerovich detailed the firm’s strategy in a post he published on X (formerly Twitter) over the weekend, emphasizing that they focus on Bitcoin accumulation and adoption. “By 2025, we aim to increase our Bitcoin holdings to 10,000 BTC using the largest capital market instruments available to us. We will leverage partnerships to advance Bitcoin adoption in Japan and around the world,” he said.
