“The Big Altcoin Seasons We Know May Be Behind Us,” Says Analytics Firm, Explains Possibility of ”Micro Altcoin Season”

Cryptocurrency analytics firm Alphractal has released a new report that assesses the current state of the altcoin market and raises the question: Are we entering a brand new cycle? The firm points to data from the past two years showing the emergence of “Micro Altcoin Seasons,” short periods where certain altcoins outperform Bitcoin. This stands in stark contrast to the 2017-2022 cycle, when altcoins generally rose en masse, significantly reducing Bitcoin’s dominance. “The 90-day change in Bitcoin Dominance suggests that we have experienced several Micro Alt Seasons since 2023, a trend unlike anything we have seen before,” Alphractal said. According to the Altcoin Seasonality Index, some altcoins have recently fallen less than Bitcoin, suggesting that accumulation may already be underway. “We may not see these low prices again for certain altcoins,” the report says, pointing to potential upside if market sentiment changes. Still, the outlook is not universally bullish. Popular tokens that saw strong gains in early 2024, such as SOL, XRP, AAVE, and BNB, could face another downturn if Bitcoin continues to fall, according to the analytics firm. Alphractal also notes that many lesser-known altcoins remain close to their launch or bear market prices, fueling skepticism around another altcoin rally.
