While the number of corporate companies investing in Bitcoin has been increasing recently, the latest talk is whether GameStop will buy Bitcoin. In the first days, the investment company Strive Asset Management, co-founded by Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy at the DOGE Ministry, called on GameStop to buy Bitcoin. Accordingly, Strive CEO Matt Cole sent a letter to GameStop Chairman and CEO Ryan Cohen suggesting that the company convert approximately $5 billion of its cash reserves into Bitcoin. Strive CEO claimed that with this move, GamStop will become the company with the most significant Bitcoin reserves in the gaming industry. “We believe GameStop has an incredible opportunity to transform its financial future as the leading bitcoin treasury company in the gaming industry.” The Bitcoin offer sent by the Strive CEO was accepted by GameStop CEO Ryan Cohen with a brief comment. Cohen said in a post from his X account, “Letter received” but did not provide further details. The Strive CEO argued that cash has a negative real return. The CEO also stated that Bitcoin is a superior alternative and offers better returns compared to holding cash due to inflation. The CEO also urged GameStop to avoid investing in other cryptocurrencies, calling Bitcoin the only “real store of value” among digital assets. The Strive CEO’s Bitcoin proposal echoes a strategy already being implemented by major companies including MicroStrategy, Semler Scientific, and MARA Holdings. Many of the large-cap companies that have bought Bitcoin into the market have not only seen their stock prices increase, but have also opened up new avenues for capital raising. Earlier this month, it was reported that GameStop was exploring BTC and digital asset investments due to falling sales and other difficulties they were experiencing. Adding to these speculations, GameStop CEO Ryan Cohen shared a photo with MicroStrategy CEO Michael Saylor on social media, further fueling the discussions about GameStop's potential BTC investment. *This is not investment advice.
