SEC member Hester Peirce, known as Crypto Mom due to her positive approach to Bitcoin (BTC) and Cryptocurrencies, made important statements. Speaking to Bloomberg, Peirce answered questions about memecoins, including the official tokens of US President Donald Trump and his wife Melania Trump, TRUMP and MELANIA, and said that most memecoins on the market do not fall under the SEC's jurisdiction. Peirce said that the newly created SEC crypto task force, which he leads, is working to classify which tokens are securities and which are not, saying: “There are a lot of people promoting memecoins right now. But the facts and conditions behind memecoins are important. But most of the memecoins on the market are probably not subject to SEC regulation.” Peirce, who stated that the former SEC under Gary Gensler filed numerous lawsuits against many cryptocurrency platforms, expressed that he wanted to change his old perspective: “We put up barriers after barriers against people trying to talk to us. So my only request from now on is that we have an innovation policy that allows people to innovate, that allows people to try new things.” *This is not investment advice.
