The ongoing volatility due to US President Donald Trump’s new tariffs with China, Canada, and Mexico has negatively affected Bitcoin (BTC) and altcoin prices. While BTC dropped to $91,000 in the process, major altcoins such as Ethereum (ETH), Dogecoin (DOGE), and XRP experienced larger declines. While this decline multiplied investors’ losses, one analyst shared his expectations for when altcoins might recover. Buy point crypto analyst Matthew Hyland stated in an X post that he expects altcoins to reach December highs in April at the earliest. Hyland said that altcoin prices could recover as early as April this year. Stating that it is unlikely that altcoins will return to their December peaks by April, Hyland said that Trump's new tariff move was effective in this. Referring to the years 2020 and 2022 in this forecast, the analyst stated that a flat recovery is unlikely in a few days and told crypto investors to “keep their expectations low and the recovery will take time.” “Considering that the liquidation on February 3rd was the largest liquidation in crypto history, it probably means the bottom has arrived, but it should also be noted that it took more than 2 months for a full recovery to occur in 2020 and 2022. It will take a long time for most altcoins to recover. You will not see altcoins reach their December highs for at least 2 months or even longer. So keep your expectations low and remember that it will take time. Of course, markets can do anything, but recent examples like Covid, Luna, FTX took months. “I'd be happy to be wrong, but assuming a flat recovery in a few days is unlikely and will probably make you uneasy if it doesn't happen. Even a V-shape like 2020 took weeks with many declines on the way back.” Blocked a few people who didn't like that this isn't going to instantly recover within a few days This is why it wont recover within a few days, because people expecting it will get nervous in a week from now when it hasn't happened and will sell thus prolonging it Bottoms in… https://t.co/aU5afAFjjc — Matthew Hyland (@MatthewHyland_) February 5, 2025 *This is not investment advice.
