MicroStrategy Inc., led by Michael Saylor, has announced the acquisition of an additional 3,459 bitcoins for approximately $285.8 million at an average price of $82,618 per bitcoin. This purchase brings the company's total holdings to 531,644 bitcoins, acquired for about $35.92 billion at an average price of $67,556 per bitcoin, with a year-to-date Bitcoin yield of 11.4%. The acquisition follows a period where MicroStrategy paused its bitcoin purchases amid a market downturn in the first quarter of 2025, during which the company added 80,785 bitcoins to its balance sheet after raising $7.69 billion. The pause was influenced by unrealized losses on its massive Bitcoin holdings, leading to an expected net loss for the first quarter. However, recent signals from Saylor, including a Bitcoin holdings tracker post mentioning 'no tariffs on orange dots,' suggested that the company was poised to resume buying, which it has now confirmed with this latest purchase.
