In a candid interview with Rug Radio, Binance founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ) reflected on his four-month prison sentence in the United States, describing the experience as “extremely difficult” and “terrifying.” Despite the difficulties he experienced, CZ stated that this difficult process reshaped his perspective on life and drew attention to the value of health, family and personal development. The cryptocurrency billionaire, who is serving time after legal troubles in the US, described his early days in a low-security prison, saying he was surrounded by “big, loud inmates with tattoos,” which instilled a deep sense of anxiety and fear. Because he is not a US citizen, he was not allowed into a low-security facility and was instead placed in a harsher environment. Zhao said that while she initially felt apprehensive about her cellmate, who was sentenced to 30 years for double murder, it eventually blossomed into an unlikely camaraderie. “We actually got along well,” CZ said.
