Crypto Executive’s Daughter Nearly Kidnapped by Masked Gang in Paris

A shocking attempted kidnapping unfolded in central Paris on Monday when armed, masked men tried to abduct the daughter of a prominent crypto executive and her two-year-old child in broad daylight, Le Parisien reports. The terrifying moment was captured in video footage taken by bystanders and nearby surveillance cameras, showing a violent struggle erupting in the street. According to eyewitnesses, the child’s father intervened quickly, fighting off the attackers in a desperate effort to protect his family. His resistance forced the men to abandon the kidnapping attempt and flee the scene. The gang retreated into the same van, which was later discovered abandoned on a nearby street. Identity of Executive Undisclosed French authorities have confirmed the targeted woman is the daughter of the head of a cryptocurrency platform. While the identities of the executive and the company have not been disclosed, police are investigating whether the attack was financially motivated, possibly linked to the family’s crypto wealth. The Paris prosecutor’s office has assigned the investigation to the city’s anti-banditry brigade, which specializes in organized violent crimes. No arrests have been made as of yet, and authorities are urging anyone with information or footage of the incident to come forward. This attempted kidnapping shows growing concerns about the security risks faced by high-profile people in the cryptocurrency industry, especially those with large assets or public visibility. In recent years, several crypto executives and their families have been targeted due to the perception of extreme personal wealth tied to the sector. Meanwhile, another high-profile case has gripped headlines—the disappearance of 18-year-old Bella May Culley, a British teenager who vanished in Thailand. Bella, from Billingham, was last seen in the Pattaya area and had been in regular contact with her family during her travels across Southeast Asia. Since losing contact with her loved ones on Saturday, her family has flown to Thailand to search for her. Her mother, Lyanne Kennedy, described the situation as “desperate” and pleaded for any leads. Both incidents show the growing dangers people face in an increasingly interconnected and sometimes volatile global environment. Ledger Co-Founder Had His Hand Mutilated in Ransom Plot Earlier this year, David Balland, the co-founder of French cryptocurrency hardware wallet company Ledger, was kidnapped alongside his wife in an incident that resulted in severe injuries to one of his hands. The couple was abducted from their home in central France on January 21, marking the beginning of a harrowing 48-hour ordeal. Details have surfaced following Balland’s release earlier this week , revealing that the couple were held captive at separate locations. According to Paris Prosecutor Laure Beccuau, the kidnappers demanded and partially received a cryptocurrency ransom.
