Hive Digital Technologies, a prominent Bitcoin mining company, announced it will move its headquarters from Vancouver, Canada, to Texas. The decision comes amid growing optimism about a pro-Bitcoin regulatory landscape under the incoming Trump administration. Hive Digital Bets on Texas In a Dec. 31 statement, Hive explained Texas as an ideal location for its new base due to the state’s favorable business climate, robust energy infrastructure, and access to skilled talent. The company also praised the U.S. for its leadership in cryptocurrency innovation and adoption, stating that a U.S.-based headquarters aligns with its long-term growth strategy. “The depth and breadth of U.S. capital markets are unparalleled and essential to scaling our operations,” said Frank Holmes, executive chairman of Hive Digital. Holmes emphasized the advantages of the U.S. market, which boasts a $40 trillion capitalization and daily trading volumes exceeding $500 billion. Hive’s move to Texas places it alongside other major mining operations in the state, including Applied Digital, Galaxy, Bitdeer, and Riot Platforms. Texas has emerged as a global Bitcoin mining hub , thanks to its abundant energy resources and supportive regulatory environment. Trump’s Bitcoin Stance Spurs Industry Optimism The decision follows President-elect Donald Trump’s vocal support for Bitcoin mining. In a June 13 post on Truth Social, Trump underscored the importance of domestic Bitcoin production after meeting with Riot Platforms executives. “We want all the remaining Bitcoin to be made in the USA. It will help us be energy dominant!” he wrote. Hive joins a growing list of crypto industry players optimistic about policy shifts under the Trump administration. Expected developments include a potential overhaul of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), more crypto-friendly rulings in federal courts, and expanded oversight by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). Experts remain bullish on the cryptocurrency industry heading into 2025, citing the synergy between pro-crypto policies and a maturing regulatory framework as key drivers of growth. Hive’s decision to establish its headquarters in Texas underscores its confidence in this trajectory.
