Serbian performance artist Marina Abramović has partnered with digital marketplace TAEX to release three new NFT drops that symbolize various elements of her work. According to Artnet’s report , Abramović has decided to return to the blockchain with a new NFT project titled Marina Abramović Element or MAE. The project marks her return to the web3 sphere since her first venture in 2021 when she offered her 2001 art piece The Hero as collectible NFTs. For her latest project, Abramović is collaborating with the digital marketplace TAEX to release three themed NFTs imbued with interactive features that showcase different aspects of the artist’s work throughout the years. Inspired by a fictional story created by Abramović, the project will take place beginning in May up until September 2025. The first NFT drop revolves around the Art theme, exploring symbols and archetypes from Abramović’s artistic practice. The second drop is called Life, which showcases how she utilizes different locations, gestures and outfits in her artwork. Finally, the last NFT drop will be called the Marina Abramović Method, in which she presents her journey of self-discovery through establishing the Marina Abramović Institute back in 2023. After the final drop, MAE will commemorate the end of her collection in November with an event called The Great Mint, where NFT collectors will be able to mint the project’s final NFT, the MAE token. The MAE token will be released in the form of video artworks and animations that show Abramović’s digital avatar performing new iterations of her famous pieces. However, in order to mint the MAE token, traders must have first either collected all three Epic NFTs from the previous drops and a Transformation Crystal or three Rare NFTs and a Transformation Crystal.
