According to the latest information, US President Donald Trump privately discussed the firing of FED Chairman Jerome Powell and contacted former FED official Kevin Warsh regarding the issue. Trump is evaluating Warsh as the new FED Chairman. According to The Wall Street Journal, Trump has been discussing Powell's dismissal and the appointment of former Fed governor Kevin Warsh in his private meetings in recent months. Trump met with Warsh at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida to discuss the possibility. However, according to sources, Warsh advised Trump that such a move should not be intervened until Powell’s term is over, due to the legal and economic consequences. Some advisors around Trump are trying to encourage the president to do so by arguing that Powell should be removed from office. Trump reiterated his dissatisfaction with Powell in a statement he made in the Oval Office last week, saying, “If I wanted to, he would be removed very quickly, believe me.” He accused Powell of “politicking on interest rates.” Trump used the phrases, “Powell needs to be removed as soon as possible!” on the social media platform Truth Social. Kevin Warsh served on the Fed Board of Governors from 2006-2011 and played a key role in the 2008 financial crisis. After leaving the Fed, he worked with investor Stanley Druckenmiller. Warsh, who was interviewed by Trump for the Fed Chair in 2017, was not preferred over Powell at the time. However, according to inside information, Warsh was given the impression that he would be offered the seat when Powell’s term ended. *This is not investment advice.
