While studies continue within the scope of cryptocurrency regulations in Türkiye, a new announcement was made by the Central Registry Agency (MKK). Accordingly, the Central Registry Agency (MKK) announced that it has launched the Crypto Asset Central Registry System to ensure integration between MKK and Crypto Asset Service Providers. Within the scope of the Capital Markets Board's (CMB) “Communiqué on the Establishment and Operating Principles of Crypto Asset Service Providers” and “Communiqué on the Working Principles and Principles and Capital Adequacy of Crypto Asset Service Providers” published in the Official Gazette on March 13, 2025, the function of the Central Registry Agency (MKK) in the process was clarified. According to the said circulars, cryptocurrency purchase and sale, initial sale or distribution, exchange, transfer and the storage and other transactions required by these, as well as the platforms' customer balances and storage balance information will be reported and reported by the Crypto Asset Service Providers to the Crypto Asset Central Registry System (CVMKS) to be established by the Central Registry Agency. Investors will also be able to track their crypto asset balances via MKK’s e-INVESTOR application and compare their KVMKS data with the platform. Finally, the CMB added that the platform and custody institutions listed on the “List of Active Parties” published on the CMB website have initiated the necessary technical and system integration tests with KVHSs in order to be able to apply for an operating permit to the CMB.
