The XRP price has inched up to $2.21 today , bucking the overall trend as the cryptocurrency market suffers a 2.5% drop in the past 24 hours. XRP has recorded very modest gains of 1.5% in the past week and 2.5% in the past month, although the alt boasts a 360% gain in the past year. Interestingly, the XRP price has moved into a zone – between $2.20 and $2.30 – that could signal a big breakout, assuming that the coin can decisively rise beyond its ceiling. In fact, the last attempt was as recent as one day ago, with XRP reaching $2.31 overnight but then dropping back down $2.21 in the aftermath. This highlights the difficulty of breaking new ground in an uncertain market, with prices and investors continuing to wilt in the face of ongoing instability, both in the Middle East and in the global economy .
